service & fees

Scanology is personal and custom work and tailored to your needs. I will handle your material with care and respect and  wear cotton gloves. I personally scan your photographs, by hand, on a flat bed scanner. An initial consult will be required to understand your requirements – there are a variety of possibilities in how best to encompass the essence of the image – that’s the fun part, deciding how you want to preserve your family history.

Many factors contribute to how long a job can take and how much it will cost. For example, the condition that the photos arrive in i.e. loose or do they have to be removed/put back into source album (takes time & care). The process is designed to be fun and easy for you. Rest assured, I want to do the job efficiently in a timely manner. I love the inherent patina of time, which means I do not do colour correction. If appropriate I can recommend people.

I can scan to tif (your master file, non-degenerative archival) and make you jpg files which are share friendly. Prints are my jam, but also able to do 35mm transparencies.

Hourly rate $50.  Minimum fee is $50.  Payment is COD.  Maximum of original photograph/document size is 8-1/2″x12″ for my flatbed. If larger, let’s discuss! I use an Epson Perfection V600 flat bed scanner.

Scanology services may include, but not restricted to:

  •  initial consultation
  • high resolution archival scan .tif
  • jpeg files for friendly family sharing
  • Electronic delivery i.e. WeTransfer, shared G-drive folder, supplied hard drive etc.

  • creating an organized excel sheet with annotation from material to corresponding file.

I am based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, which is where the majority of clients are based. If you are from out of town/province/country and would like to engage my services, shipping arrangements can be discussed. Please note, that I cannot guarantee shipping deliveries or safety. If you are not 100% comfortable shipping out of your home town, it may be wiser to find someone there.

I am also available to scan for film projects purposes and/or publications.  As well as if you are located elsewhere, I can facilitate scanning of material in Toronto to digitally send to you.  Contact me for details.
